A weekend is enough time to turn a beach holiday into a small road trip. Pick the car up on Friday, keep it through Sunday, and the resort strip stops being the edge of your map. With two or three days and your own wheels, you can watch the sun rise over one bay and set behind another, then be back in time to pack. We deliver to your hotel or the airport, so the weekend starts the moment you have the keys rather than after a taxi queue.
Where a weekend can take you
From Punta Cana and Bavaro, a weekend opens up more of the country than most visitors expect. Bayahibe and the boats to Saona sit within an easy morning's drive. Push a little further and Santo Domingo rewards you with the colonial old town, its stone streets, and a long dinner far from the resort buffet. The wilder, greener coast around Miches and El Seibo is close enough to reach and quiet enough to feel like a discovery. Unlimited mileage means the distance is never the thing that decides your plan.
Planning two or three days on the road
Think of a Friday to Sunday escape as one loop rather than a race. Load up in the morning, drive while the roads are calm, and give yourself an unhurried afternoon at the far end. A few practical points make the weekend smoother:
- The car arrives with a full tank, and we collect it the same way at the end.
- Cover for collision and liability with a fixed excess comes as standard, so a longer drive is not a bigger risk.
- A card hold stands as your deposit and is released after you return the car.
- Returning in a different city is possible for a flat fee based on distance, handy for a one way run to Santo Domingo.
Booking the weekend
Weekend cars move fast, so choosing your model and your delivery window early is worth it, especially across a holiday weekend. The main driver should be at least 21, with a surcharge for drivers under 25, and needs to bring a driving licence, a passport, and a credit card in the driver's own name. We can deliver Friday and collect Sunday to fit around your first and last plans, at the hotel or the airport, and the rate already includes delivery across Punta Cana and Bavaro. If your route uses toll roads, keep some pesos in cash, since the amount for your vehicle shows on the booth screen. Beyond that, the weekend is yours to shape however the map and the mood take you.

This is the second time we’ve rented a car in the DR. Auto Dominicana was by far the easiest to communicate with. They had easy to understand insurance packages. We rented a Jeep Cherokee and it was clean and reliable. Pick up and drop off was easy to do at the airport.
I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
