How to Rent a Car in Punta Cana for Your Vacation?

From there the coast is yours. The Autovia del Coral is the spine of the region, a toll highway from the airport towards La Romana and the capital; booths take cash pesos only, so keep small notes in the glovebox. The Bavaro boulevard is busy with guaguas and motoconchos, so drive a touch slower and leave more room; in a roundabout, whoever is already inside goes first.

Rough drive times from Bavaro: El Cortecito ten minutes, the airport twenty, Macao thirty, Cap Cana thirty-five, Higuey and the Basilica about fifty. With your own car you pull over at a colmado for a cold Presidente, buy groceries at the supermarket instead of paying resort prices, and get to Macao before the buses do. That is the whole point of renting a car in Punta Cana.

This is the second time we’ve rented a car in the DR. Auto Dominicana was by far the easiest to communicate with. They had easy to understand insurance packages. We rented a Jeep Cherokee and it was clean and reliable. Pick up and drop off was easy to do at the airport.

I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
