Bavaro is the part of Punta Cana most of our guests actually sleep in: the long resort belt behind Playa Bavaro, the shops and cafes of Los Corales, the fishing boats pulled up on the sand at El Cortecito. You can walk a good deal of it, and plenty of people do. But the resorts end at the fence line, and the rest of the Dominican Republic starts on the other side. That is where a car comes in. We keep our fleet right here, bring the car to your hotel lobby, and take it back when you leave.
What a car changes about a week in Bavaro
Without one, your radius is the resort, the beach out front, and whatever excursion bus is scheduled that day. With one, breakfast can be at a colmado table in El Cortecito, lunch can be grilled fish at Playa Macao where the surf school sets up, and the afternoon can be a slow drive south through Cap Cana to look at the marina. Palma Real Shopping Village and the San Juan mall in Downtown Punta Cana are ten minutes off the strip, which matters when you need a pharmacy or a proper supermarket run instead of resort prices. The airport is about twenty minutes down the boulevard, so the last morning is unhurried.
Most Bavaro guests do not need a big vehicle. The coastal roads are paved and the distances are short, so an economy car handles the strip, the malls, and the run out to Macao without complaint. If you are heading further, toward Miches or the Samana side, an SUV gives you clearance for the unpaved stretches, and we will tell you honestly which one suits the plan.
How the rental works when you stay in Bavaro
Give us the hotel name and a time, and one of us meets you at the lobby with the keys, the paperwork, and a full tank. If you would rather have the car from the first minute, we meet you at Punta Cana Airport instead and you drive to the resort yourself. When the trip ends, we collect the car at your hotel or at the airport, whichever is easier. Delivery anywhere in the Punta Cana and Bavaro area is already part of the daily rate.
That rate also includes collision coverage with a fixed excess, liability insurance, and unlimited mileage, so nobody is counting kilometers on the way to Macao. Economy cars start around 15 US dollars a day, and the exact figure for your dates appears the moment you enter them. SUVs and premium models are priced higher and shown the same way, with the total visible before you commit.
A few local things worth knowing
- Resorts in Bavaro keep gated guest parking. Ask the front desk where rental cars go, since some hotels use a separate lot from the tour buses.
- Toll booths on the highway take cash pesos only. The amount shows on the screen at the booth, so keep small bills in the glovebox.
- Motoconchos and delivery bikes weave through Los Corales at all hours. Drive at the local pace and give them room.
To book, you need a driver's license, a passport, and a credit card in the driver's name. Drivers must be at least 21, with a small surcharge under 25. The deposit is a hold on your card, sized to the car and coverage you choose, and it releases after the car comes back. If you have a question about a specific hotel or a route, write to us before you book.

Excelente sin palabras ,
agradecido.
Execelente servicio muy buenos autos y a buen precio
Me gustó mucho el servicio. El coche está en buen estado. Elegí un descapotable para dar un paseo con mi hijo. Fue una experiencia estupenda. Lo recomiendo. El personal es atento y amable.
This is the second time we’ve rented a car in the DR. Auto Dominicana was by far the easiest to communicate with. They had easy to understand insurance packages. We rented a Jeep Cherokee and it was clean and reliable. Pick up and drop off was easy to do at the airport.
I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
All was ok, nice and fresh car, pick and drop car was easy. I will choose again when I'll back to rep.dom
Absolutamente confiables autos en muy buen estado una atención de personas extranjeras para tomar y dejar el auto. Todo muy fácil y te devuelven la seña con los mismos billetes que vos le diste. Recomendable 100% y la tarifa una de las mejores. Gracias Autodominicana.
It's a great experience !! Buen servicio y buena atención, vehículos de buena calidad y ah buen precio la renta
