La Romana sits on the south-east coast of the Dominican Republic, about an hour west of Punta Cana. Renting a car here gives you a practical base for the resorts, beaches, and inland sights that buses and taxis reach slowly or not at all. Economy models start around 15 US dollars a day, and the exact rate for your dates appears the moment you choose them. Every booking includes collision and liability coverage with a fixed excess, unlimited mileage, and delivery in the Punta Cana and Bavaro area, with other regions arranged on request.
What a car lets you reach around La Romana
The city is best known for Casa de Campo, the large luxury resort with its own golf courses, and for Altos de Chavon, a re-created Mediterranean village built above the Chavon river. Its 5,000-seat amphitheater still hosts concerts and events through the year. A short drive south brings you to Bayahibe, where boats leave the marina for Isla Saona and Isla Catalina. The town itself grew around the sugar mill that shaped its port and streets, and that heritage is still visible today. With your own car you move between these places on your own schedule instead of waiting on a tour bus.
Picking up the car and driving locally
We deliver to your hotel or meet you at La Romana International Airport (LRM) with a full tank, and collect the car when you leave. To drive you need a valid driver's license, your passport, and a credit card in the driver's name. The minimum age is 21, with a small surcharge for drivers under 25. Roads between the resorts and the town are simple to follow, and because mileage is unlimited, a day trip east toward Punta Cana or a run to the beach adds nothing to your daily rate.
Costs, deposit, and one-way trips
Your daily rate already covers the essentials, so there are few surprises at the counter. When you book, a hold is placed on the credit card depending on the car and the coverage you pick, and it is released after you return the vehicle. If you want to start in one place and finish in another, we quote a flat different drop-off fee by distance when you book.

This is the second time we’ve rented a car in the DR. Auto Dominicana was by far the easiest to communicate with. They had easy to understand insurance packages. We rented a Jeep Cherokee and it was clean and reliable. Pick up and drop off was easy to do at the airport.
I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
