La Romana International Airport (LRM) is a small, calm airport in the south-east, and it clears fast, which makes picking up a rental car here quick and easy. We meet you at arrivals with the car ready and a full tank, or bring it to your resort or hotel; when you head home, we collect it again.
What is close to the airport
Casa de Campo is about 10 minutes away, so guests can be at the resort almost as soon as they land. Bayahibe, the fishing village where boats leave for Saona and Catalina islands, is a short drive down the coast, and Altos de Chavon, the stone artisan village with its Mediterranean look and open-air amphitheater, sits just above the river nearby. The beaches of the south-east are within easy reach, and having your own car means you set your own hours rather than waiting on tours.
Driving on to Punta Cana and beyond
Punta Cana lies about an hour east, so many travellers land at LRM, spend time around La Romana and Bayahibe, then drive across to the eastern resorts without changing cars. The airport also gives easy access to La Romana city and the sugar-country roads inland, and to Altos de Chavon when there is a concert on at the amphitheater. Having the car waiting means you leave when you want rather than building your day around transfer times.
What the daily rate includes
Economy cars start around 15 US dollars a day, and the exact rate appears when you choose your dates; SUVs and premium models cost more. Every rate includes collision cover and liability with a fixed excess, unlimited mileage, and delivery in the Punta Cana and Bavaro area, with delivery to other regions arranged and quoted separately.

For the short, flat roads around La Romana and Bayahibe an economy car is plenty; choose an SUV if you want more room for luggage or plan longer drives. To collect the car you need a driver's license, a passport, and a credit card in the driver's name. The minimum age is 21, with a small surcharge for drivers under 25. The credit card also backs a refundable deposit, held against the car and coverage you choose and released once you return it. If you would rather end your trip in another region, a different drop-off is set at booking as a flat fee based on distance.

This is the second time we’ve rented a car in the DR. Auto Dominicana was by far the easiest to communicate with. They had easy to understand insurance packages. We rented a Jeep Cherokee and it was clean and reliable. Pick up and drop off was easy to do at the airport.
I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
