Bayahibe is a small former fishing village on the south-east coast, near La Romana and about an hour and a half from Punta Cana. It keeps a slow, pedestrian core, and most people come for the boats that leave the marina for Isla Saona and Isla Catalina. A rental car is the easiest way to reach the village, to carry gear to the beach, and to add nearby stops on your own schedule. The village itself is compact and easy to walk, but the sights around it are spread out. Parque Nacional Cotubanama, once known as Parque Nacional del Este, protects a large stretch of coast and dry forest. Booking, documents, and one-way returns
To drive you need a valid driver's license, your passport, and a credit card in the driver's name. The minimum age is 21, with a small surcharge for drivers under 25. When you book, a hold is placed on the credit card depending on the car and coverage, and it is released after you return the vehicle.

I would definitely recommend this rental place. With so many scary tourists horrible stories go here. I’m from Houston. They drop off to you and pick up from you. They stayed in contact before drop and before pick up. While I documented any prior damages to the car, the guy talked me through them. Saying yes this scratch was there etc.
